Appling to OT School:

  1. When you apply:

-Don’t go by rankings; In order to be considered in national rankings the school must have had a masters program for at least 30 years.
      -Find out school’s philosophy:
-UTHSCSA: PEO Model- Holistic View of the person, environment, and their occupation – pediatric oriented
-TWU: Adaptive Model- how does the patient adapt to the environment? – geriatric and adult oriented
-Look at curriculum- know their coursework; at UTHSCA they still do full gross anatomy work with a cadaver (human) dissection
-Go where you think you’ll get the best overall experience, not necessarily the best education
-Interview: 2 different interviews with 2 professors; ask questions! such as: specific questions about their program, questions that probe them about                                  their program and fieldwork, why do they still have a gross anatomy lab, etc.
